Noor Muhammad صلّﷲ عليه وسلم (The Light of the Prophet)

I should have posted this long back. Unfortunately, I couldn't manage my time to put this up. Sorry folks!

We know what is going on today...Muslims are in the phase of a crisis everywhere. Islam has been misinterpreted and misconceptions are spread like wildfire among people. When there is disunity among the muslim ummah itself, how is it possible for us to bring out the true colors of the most peaceful religion! History is the best subject if you need to learn the lessons for life because the experiences of our ancestors is the core that has always helped in the development of the future generations; may it be the development of the quality of life or the quality of character. The Prophet Muhammed صلّﷲ عليه وسلم has setup his life to be the ideal example for the ummah and his companions are like the polestar as Rasulallah  صلّﷲ عليه وسلم said; guiding the ummah through their lifestyle.

Rather we criticizing each other, we really need to ponder over the situation, go back and learn from not only the Quran and the Sunnah but also from the companions and the scholars of the best times. As far as what I understand, this is the real need of today else we cannot unite the ummah. As we all know.. United we stand, Divided we fall! Islam, in its rules and regulations, have been the same then and now. The problem arose when difference of opinion arose.  We need to trace back all the way to that point where these differences popped up and make a detailed study of the situation.May Allah guide us to analyse and reflect over the truth..Ameen

The sole point of our existence is Muhammed Rasulallah  صلّﷲ عليه وسلم; the light of Rasulallah  صلّﷲ عليه وسلم. His light was the first thing to be created by Allah. From that light, Allah created all other lights. The Prophet  صلّﷲ عليه وسلم said, "The first thing Allah created was the pen" . He also said " The first thing Allah created was intellect" . From one of the greatest of scholars, Shaykh Abdul Qadir Gilani رحمت الله عليه in his book Sirr al asrar fi ma yahtaju ilayha al abrar ; he says that," Know that since Allah first created the soul of Muhammed  صلّﷲ عليه وسلم from the light of His beauty as He said,I created Muhammed from the light of My face and as the Prophet said," The first thing Allah created is my soul and the first thing Allah created is the pen and the first thing Allah created is the intellect."  Means to say that intellect is the light of knowledge of all that is to be created and the pen is the same light of intellect ,that which writes down the Qadr or the decree of Allah, writes down all those events till the end of time. The light of the Prophet  صلّﷲ عليه وسلم is also referred to the same light of intellect because he is the one who shares the greatest part of this intellect.

It is related from Jabir Ibn Abdullah that when he asked the Prophet of Allah  صلّﷲ عليه وسلم about the first creation of Allah, the Prophet said," O Jabir, the first thing Allah created was the light of your Prophet from His light, and that light remained (lit.turned) in the midst of His Power for as long as He wished, and there was not at that time, a Tablet or a Pen or a Paradise or a Fire or a Heaven or the Earth. And when Allah wished to create creation, He divided the light into four parts and from the first made the Pen, from the second the Tablet, from the third the Throne,(and from the fourth everything else)."

There are varying opinions regarding the authenticity of this hadith but the evidences related to this concept is found in several other books too.

Allah, the Almighty, breathed this light of Rasulallah into Adam عليه سلام and from him it was carried on, generation to generation until it reached  Rasulallah  صلّﷲ عليه وسلم. The light of our Prophet  صلّﷲ عليه وسلم is the most beloved to our Lord. Allah Himself, has dressed up this light with all His barakah.

When the time of Habeebullah's birth was close, the whole creation waited eagerly for his arrival. Many signs were seen on the arrival of Rasulallah صلّﷲ عليه وسلم.

  • Abdul Muttalib,( the grandfather of Rasulallah  صلّﷲ عليه وسلم) was in Kaaba that morning and he saw that suddenly all the stone idols there fell . [recorded from Al Seerathul Nabavia]
  • On that blessed night, the magnificent castle of the Persian monarch Nosherwah, which threw out a false fantasy of power ,upon which people looked at with fear, trembled and fourteen of its turrets collapsed and the fire of the fire temple in Persia, which had been burning for 1000 years suddenly extinguished.
  • When the Prophet  صلّﷲ عليه وسلم came out of his mother, Amina رضي الله عنها , a light came out, illuminating the far horizon until she could see the castles of Shaam (Syria).
  • At noon, sounds were heard from the idols in Makkah announcing the arrival of the Prophet  صلّﷲ عليه وسلم. [recorded from Ar-Rawaeh Al Zakiyya fi Mawlidi Khairl Bariyyah by Sheikh Abdullah ibn Muhammed Al Harari who recorded this from Al Bayhaqi]
  • Ash Shifa, mother of Abdur Rahman ibn Awf (ra) had attended his birth and she said:" When he dropped into my hands he sneezed and I heard a voice saying, "May Allah have mercy upon you" The entire horizon became illuminated for me whereby I was able to see the castle of the Greeks." [Dalail Al Nubuvvah lil Bayhaqi]
And much more...

Such a magnificent light he is!He has to be when he is the most beloved to the Almighty! Allah had adorned the heavens and the Earth to welcome His Habeeb. When every Rabi ul Awwal arrives, Allah opens up His immense blessings over the Earth. Allah Himself celebrates the arrival of Rasulallah! When we start commemorating this light which is beloved to Allah,we actually start bringing this light into our hearts. And by the grace of this light Allah orders his angels to clean up our hearts. As we get deeper and sincere in this rememberance, our hearts are filled more and more with the love for Rasulallah, eventually making our hearts and souls more cleaner and brighter with his light. Allah cleans us up with the love of Rasulallah صلّﷲ عليه وسلم...

The Messenger of Allah  صلّﷲ عليه وسلم said: "Whoever sends salawat upon me once, Allah will send salawat upon him ten fold and will erase ten sins from him and will raise him ten degrees in status." [An Nasai]

Sending more and more salawats upon Rasullallah صلّﷲ عليه وسلم takes you more and more closer to his presence which means getting more and more closer to the presence of your Lord, the Almighty!Unless you love the Prophet you can never reach into the divinely presence.

If we look back into history of the Sahabas, during the time of the Prophet  صلّﷲ عليه وسلم, they had no solid evidences or manifestations of what was revealed to Rasulallah. But then how did could they believe in his words and in the revelation? It was only because of the sincere love they had  for the Messenger of Allah  صلّﷲ عليه وسلم..For the later generations, it was a need of the hour to teach and remind people of the attributes and the virtues of the noblest man on Earth.. It was a need of the hour to remind people of the greatest blessing Allah had bestowed upon us, the blessing of His Messenger... to thank Him for the blessing...And hence came the Mawlid....

We will look into what Mawlid is all about in the next post ...In sha Allah
