Mawlid- Counter Argument Series (2)

It is a bidaah to celebrate Mawlid on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal specifically.

When it is a Sunnah to celebrate Mawlid throughout the year, how can it be different on 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal?Although there is a difference of opinion among the scholars regarding the exact date of Rasulallah's صلّﷲ عليه وسلم  birthday, the majority of the Ulama of the world holds the consensus that it is on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal and in the Year of Elephant (A'amul Feel). I shall quote below from some classical scholars of Islam. You will have no disputes with their opinions, In Sha Allah!

  1. Ibn Ishaq (a historian from the Islamic golden age whose works on biography of the Prophet صلّﷲ عليه وسلم is considered to be important.)

Messenger of Allah صلّﷲ عليه وسلم was born on 12 Rabi ul Awwal in A'am al Feel.
(Ibn Jawzi in Al Wafa)

    2.  Ibn Hisham (Another historian from the Islamic golden age who revised the lost works of Ibn Ishaq in his biography of Rasulallah صلّﷲ عليه وسلم)

"Messenger of Allah  صلّﷲ عليه وسلم  was born on Monday 12 Rabi ul Awwal in A'am al Feel. "

(Ibn Hisham in As Sirat un Nabawiya)

    3. Imam Ibn Jareer Tabari (A polymath, an expertise in historiography, a commentator of Quran)

"Messenger of Allah صلّﷲ عليه وسلم was born on Monday 12 Rabi ul Awwal in A'am al Feel".

(Tarikh ul Umam wal Muluk)

    4. Sheikh Abdul Haq Muhadath Dehlavi (one of the leading Islamic scholars of the 11th century, well versed in Islamic sciences, a commentator of Quran with a profound knowledge of Hadith, a pioneer of Islamic literature in the Indian subcontinent.A scholar who excelled in the practices of Sufism under the Sufis of Hijaz)

"Know it well, that overwhelming majority of the experts of biographers and historians hold the opinion that the Beloved (i.e the Prophetصلّﷲ عليه وسلم) was born in 'Aam al Feel...It is well known that the month was of Rabi ul Awwal and its date was 12. Various scholars have shown their agreement with this (date)."

(Madarij un Nabuwwah)

    5. Imam Qastallani (An Islamic scholar, well versed in hadith and theology whose excellence was showcased in his work Irshad Al-Sari; one of the best commentaries on Sahih Bukhari)

"Rasulallah صلّﷲ عليه وسلم was born on 12th Rabi ul Awwal and people of Makkah follow it, on this same day they visit (your place of birth). It is famous that you were born on 12th Rabi ul Awwal, the day was of Monday, Ibn Ishaq and others have narrated this too."

(Al Muwahib al Laduniya)

Where I felt that this argument is refuted without fail was when I came across the following scholars' quotes; two scholars those who are very much followed by the oppressors of Mawlid.

    6. Ibn Kathir (An expertise on Tafsir of Quran, a highly influential scholar, well known for his voluminous books on the history of the World ,Al Bidaya Wan Nihaya; about the different nations and Prophets; history from the beginning upto his time.)

"Ibn Abi Shaybah in his Musannaf narrates from Affan>>Sa'id>> Jabir and Ibn Abbas who said: Rasulallah صلّﷲ عليه وسلمwas born in the year of Elephant on Monday, the 12th Rabi ul Awwal...."
(Seerat un Nabi)

Then he said: This is what is famous amongst majority and Allah knows the best.

    7.  Nawab Muhammad Sadiq Hasan Khan Bohapalvi: (Another great Indian Islamic scholar from Bhopal who was greatly influenced by Ibn Taymiyya; he also opposed the celebration of Mawlid.)

The birth of the Prophet صلّﷲ عليه وسلم happened in Makkah at the time of Fajar on Monday 12 Rabi ul Awwal in A'am al Feel. Majority of scholars hold this opinion. Ibn Jawzi has narrated a consensus (of scholars) on it.
(Ash Shumama  tul Anbariya fi Mawlid Khair al Bariyya)

Hence, the date of Milad un Nabi, as agreed upon to be authentic by most of the classical and the later scholars and historians and also officially recognized by most of the Islamic countries around the globe is to be on Monday, 12th of Rabiul Awwal, in the Year of Elephant...

HI ITHATHA, HOPE YOU ARE DOING GOOD,

THANK YOU FOR THE INFO.

WHAT I BELIEVE IS IF OUR PROPHET(PBUH) WANTED US TO REMEMBER HIS BIRTHDAY HE WOULD HAVE STATED IT UNAMBIGUOUSLY(IN THE KUTBAH SITHA OR THE 2 SAHIH BOOKS(BUKHARI AND MUSLIM)). WE CAN ALSO SEE FROM THE HISTORY AND SUNNAH THAT NONE OF THE SAHABA OR THE TABEEN CELEBRATED THE BIRTHDAY OF PROPHET NOR THEIR OWN.

IF WE SEE IN THE HADITH OF SAHIH MUSLIM, WE CAN SEE OUR PROPHET EXPLICITLY STATING THAT HE TOOK FASTS ON MONDAY BECAUSE HE WAS BORN ON THAT DAY, JUST TO REMIND US TO FAST ON MONDAYS, BUT HE DIDN'T MENTION THE DATE. A FEW AMONG THE MUSLIM UMMAH IS BRAINWASHED TO UNDERSTAND CELEBRATING OUR PROPHETS BIRTHDAY IS THE MOST BELOVED THING FOR HIM. BUT WE ALL KNOW HE WILL BE MOST HAPPY IF WE HOLD TIGHT THE SUNNAH OF OUR PROPHET.

JAZAKALLAHU-KHAIR.
