The Hidden Secrets at the Nib!

The universe and all that it contains have got so much to tell us. Seeking their knowledge would help us to realize our status in this world ;what we are and why we exist. We all know that a 'pen' (in general) is an unavoidable part of this process of learning. When you learn something, its important that you pen them down into pages so that its remembered and also it can reach for the benefit of someone else too.

A 'pen' speaks out its importance beyond just being something physical. It was in his play 'Richelien' in 1839 that Edward Bulwer Lytton had framed this sentence 'the pen is mightier than the sword'. A saying quite familiar but it has got a lot of meaning. Pens have been the reasons for many of the revolutions the world has ever seen.

As we try decoding this clause we move into the pages of history where we have known many legends; great emperors who fought numerous battles victoriously conquering lands beyond lands. They have conquered and ruled upto the far horizon for years with the power of sword. Such huge were their empires but they were all torn apart when a mightier force rode in.

On the other hand, various great scholars and philosophers have done the greatest of conquest ; the conquest of minds by the strength of pen. Through their words they have influenced minds until today. Their thoughts have inspired men and motivated them for developing attributes and changed them in person bringing transformation among mankind.

A deep dive into the Quran will let us know how creatively Allah (s.w.t) has upheld the importance of acquiring knowledge.

As I was listening to some lectures by various islamic scholars, i came across one, from the teachings of Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi.

In certain verses, explained so explicitly, Allah(s.w.t) reminds us that all that is known to us so far and all that are still secrets are all from Allah(s.w.t) alone.

Let's consider the word [Quran] 'قرآن'

  When split,

                                    ق ر ا ن

Here 'ق' (quaf) represents the Quran which is the creator's  uncreated divine speech. The 'ق' (quaf) directs to 'ن' (nun). Here (nun) signifies the 'noor'

meaning the 'light' of Allah (s. w. t) 's divine ocean of power. It is the light of knowledge we seek to be blessed with. Hence the word 'Quran' expresses itself to be the light of knowledge of all the worlds and all that beyond it.

Let's see how the Quran teaches us the virtues of a pen.

In surah al Alaq, (Chapter no.96, Verse no.4, 5)

"Who taught by the pen

Taught man that which he knew not"

And also in surah Al Qalam, (chapter no. 68,Verse no.1)

"Nun, by the pen! By all they write!"

The above verses emphasize the importance of seeking knowledge. For those who understand, these lines are just enough to interpret and reach especially that part of our society who gives less importance to education.

Now, you will be amazed to know how beautifully Allah (s.w.t) has designed the word 'قلم' (pen) :

قلم when split:

                          ق  ل  م

The (ق) (quaf) is the Quran ul Majeed.

The (ل) (laam) signifies Lisanul Haqq.

'Lisan' means tongue, language, dialect.

`Haqq' means truth.

In other words, ل(laam) is the tongue of Allah's realities.

When ق (quaf) +ل (laam) =قل(qul)

Now, قل means Allah's speech.

Allah tells us that His 'qul' (speech) i. e His Quran, when revealed directly, cannot be held by or contained by anything on the Earth. Even if it was revealed to the enormous mountains, they would be perished to dust.

The only thing that could carry Allah's divine words is the heart of the sacred soul, Prophet Muhammed (peace and blessings be upon him) which is denoted by 'م' (meem) of قلم (qalam) (pen)!

How exotic and perfect was that!

Not just that, there is so much to dive in because the sea of knowledge is endless ;the secrets they carry are priceless!
