Ikhlas: A tool to perfect your Iman!

Surah Al Ikhlas, which describes the qualities of Ar Rahman is a surah that defends His honor. Perhaps, because of the blessings it carries, Allah has inculcated love for this surah in the hearts of the believers. It is an undeniable fact that we all love this surah; probably for a different reason (it's small size!). Nonetheless, there is a blessing in this too! Our scholars say that the content of the Quran is primarily divided into three parts. Out of which one part deals with the attributes of Allah and this surah summarizes it. Hence it is said that surah al Ikhlas is equivalent to one third of the Quran in its barakah (blessings)!

A Hadith from Sahih Al Bukhari supports the above said.

'A man heard another man reciting (in the prayers): 'Say (O Muhammad): "He is Allah, the One." (112.1) And he recited it repeatedly. When it was morning, he went to the Prophet and informed him about that as if he considered that the recitation of that Sura by itself was not enough. Allah's Apostle said, "By Him in Whose Hand my life is, it is equal to one-third of the Quran."

Now this doesn't mean that three times recitation of this surah equals the recitation of the whole Quran. It only shows the status of this surah; it's so much heavily blessed!

The Quran is a heavenly blessing from the Almighty. It contains all that which is required for the mankind until the Doomsday. It contains the stories of the prophets and their societies from the past, the future predictions, the Heaven and the Hell, about the human sustenance, the gifted nature, the supremacy of Allah etc. In it there is shifa (recovery) for illness, for pain, shifa even for negative energies and all that which is known and unknown to us! Therefore it is better for us to keep a firm relation with the Quran. Our love for the Quran, especially for surah al Ikhlas ;love for its profound meaning can cause us to win Allah's love! This is proved from the following hadith in Sahih Al Bukhari.

The Prophet sent (an army unit) under the command of a man who used to lead his companions in the prayers and would finish his recitation with (the Sura 112): 'Say (O Muhammad): "He is Allah, the One." ' (112.1) When they returned (from the battle), they mentioned that to the Prophet. He said (to them), "Ask him why he does so." They asked him and he said, "I do so because it mentions the qualities of the Beneficent and I love to recite it (in my prayer)." The Prophet; said (to them), "Tell him that Allah loves him"

May Allah make us to remain steadfast to His Deen. These days, situations are so much bewildering that what befalls in the future is highly unexpected! May Allah save us! Ameen...
