In contrary to the human world, the history of jinns are dated far ahead of the creation of humans. Allah says in Surah Al Hijr,
"And the jinn We created before from scorching fire."
And in Surah Ar-Rahman,
"And the jinn did He create of smokeless fire."
The Arabic word for smokeless flame is 'maarij' which, according to Ibn Abbas (a great mufassir) has another meaning of 'merged' or 'mixed' i.e, mixture of flames, mixture of all colours of flames which doesn't have a smoke. This mixture is found at the outer corner of a flame (if you could observe a large fire closely!) This is what jinns are created from!
Indeed, Allah is the best of creators!
Similar to human beings,the jinns too need to eat and drink for their sustenance. They too get married and have their own families. They work, have their own lifestyles, face problems and they also die. They will also face the Day of Resurrection and will be held accountable for their deeds.
Unlike humans, the jinns do not have a definite structure. If we are mass then they are energy and they just exist! How do they exist Allahu Aalam! (Allah knows the best!). They share the same kind of world with the angels. Theirs is a world of energy with no physicality!
In parallel to humans, the jinns too have their own ethnicities and cultures but they believe in the same religions as that of humans. Allah ﷻ have blessed jinns with more strength and power. They are more faster than us. They live much longer than us (perhaps, hundereds of years!). Their population is much much greater than ours (but this doesn't make a problem in terms of space required since they aren't physical!)
There is an amusing narrative which proves the immense power and speed of these species. Traveling back to the times of the King Sulaiman عليه سلام ....
Sulaiman عليه سلام was a prophet and the only king who was blessed with a kingdom no other king ever had or will ever have. Sulaiman عليه سلام had control over the jinns, the animals, the birds, the ants; even the wind was obediant to him. The Queen of Sheba (Yemen today) and her nation were worshippers of sun. Sulaiman عليه سلام wrote to her, inviting her to submit herself to the will of Allah. Recognising the letter to be noble, the queen sent her ambassadors to him with many gifts but king Sulaiman عليه سلام refused and sent them back warning her of his mighty army whom she can never defeat. The queen then decided to visit him. At this stage, king Sulaiman عليه سلام asked his circle of jinns, who among them could bring her throne to him before she reached him in submission. A jinn of the Ifrit class, came forward claiming his strength to bring that great throne before the king could even rise from his place. Ifrit is a class of jinns who are extremely powerful and extremely evil. They are the most awful kind of shaythan! As he claimed, within a blink of an eye he was back with the throne! This shows the ability of the jinn to carry that huge throne with an enormous speed. There is something which can be related here. The material throne could not have been flying all the way from Sheba to Jerusalem, isn't it? They would have been noticed, but they weren't. According to some scholars, this incident could be related to what is known today as Einstein's Law of Relativity! How?
The Law of Relativity or E=mc2 where E is energy, m is mass and c is the speed of light says that energy and mass are interchangeable at the speed of light. This means to say that the jinn whose speed could have been close to the speed of light could have had this ability of interchanging its forms( along with the throne) from mass to energy and back i.e, disappearing there and reappearing here!
This is just a conception not a proven fact. But we cannot ignore this possibility!
Another fascinating science comes from the ghost hunters! The explorers of the paranormal world make use of technology to prove the existence of these beings. We do not know how far they are accurate because Science hasn't proven it yet and there are criticisms arising with this regard. Nonetheless, there are possibilities for their assumptions to be true!
If this bodiless creature can be said to be an energy then obviously they can be present on the electromagnetic spectrum. The paranormal investigators make use of the EMF (electromagnetic field) detectors to sense the presence of these supernatural souls. They assume the jinns to be generally a part of the infrared rays which is invisible and have wavelengths slightly longer than that of the visible light. The jinns have the ability to make themselves visible to us if they desire. This must be possible when they actually switch between the different energy levels making them jump to different wavelengths i.e, making themselves visible and invisible!
All those concepts which I have shared above are just assumptions today; scientific assumptions under the Islamic perception. Science is advanced today but not complete yet. Its theories keep changing with new discoveries. Hold onto your horses! Who knows, you might see some day these presumptions become true...
